Born in Vancouver BC, I have spent the last several years travelling, meeting new people and discovering new places. However I find it’s in the spontaneous and often typically mundane moments where my attention is captured and I snap a photo for a future painting.
Working mostly in oil, I balance observation with intuition, translating the photos I take into sketches and ultimately paintings, where I aim to create a sense of atmosphere and presence that feels lived-in rather than staged. I’m interested in how small details can hold the weight of a story, and the moments of pause that often go unnoticed.
My approach is rooted in direct, gestural mark-making — letting brushwork remain visible so that each painting carries traces of its own making
Largely self-taught, I continue to develop my practice through workshops and classes with artists and educators whose work resonates with me.
